Let Freedom Sing

"Freedom is the oxygen of the soul."
(Moshe Dayan)

I've been working on several projects lately, but in honor of Independence Day, I thought I'd share the ones done in Red, White, and Blue!  First one up is the scrapbook layout I put together with the current Scrapping the Music theme in mind.

Challenge 201A is based on the song "Freedom" by Tyrone Wells.  (See video HERE... or on my right-side MixPod music player.  Check out the guitar.  Gorgeous!  Oh, wouldn't I just love one just like it!!)

My journaling spots are personal to me, so I blotted them out; but still you get the gist.  On the bottom left corner of the right page, I made an envelope pocket for a tag and a printed copy of the lyrics of the song.

I used a variety of materials, from paper napkins, lace, stickles, even a candy wrapper from the night we went to the fireworks just recently...   Nothing too fancy-schmancy... no fussy demands and expectations involved...  Just the pure freedom of having fun!

"I wish that every human life
might be pure transparent freedom."
(Simone de Beauvoir)

I made a few flowers by recycling some patriotic-colored bottle caps and pop tabs!  You can find a tutorial on how to make these right HERE.  I found them a bit addicting...  (I mean, the flowers, NOT the beverage!)

Next, I've been working on some crochet potholders and trivets for Dear Daughter.  Here are a couple in the making, done in a "Twists" yarn made by Peaches & Creme.

This particular reddish and beige variegated combo is called "Hampton Twist".  The pattern, found HERE, is very quick and easy to do, I thought.  I'm sure I'll be whipping up a third one for myself!

Finally, here's another scrapbook layout I made...  This one, as a proud new member of Craft Happens!.. I recently parted ways with another scrapbooking group...  I hesitated to do so, and couldn't make up my mind; but when something's not right for you, as disappointing as it may be, it's best to accept it, and just be glad to walk away from it.  In the end, I didn't want them, and they didn't want me.  I guess, just like in real life, some friendships are good for you, and some are not.

But here, at Craft Happens, was a new group, very friendly, easy-going, and welcoming...  and one which I'm very happy to now be a part of!  My spirits are lifted...   "When you let it go, it'll come right back to you."

Here I scrapped about the day Dear Daughter and I went shopping for dresses for both the Bridal Shower, and then for the Rehearsal Dinner.  I LOVE the upper right photo of her peeking over the dressing room door!  I told her I didn't like this one dress I tried on, and wasn't going to let her see it...  But as you can see, so much for THAT!  We just had so much fun that day, just mother-daughter quality time!

So-oooooo....   That about wraps things up for this post!  Here's wishing everybody hotdogs, hamburgers, watermelon, and lots of sunshine!  Let loose, sing, dance, forget your diets...  Just have fun, but be safe!

Happy 4th of July,
and thanks for stopping by!

Hi Tina, How's your summer going? Hot here and getting ready for my next vacation, been doing mini vacations so not much commenting, but I have been reading. :) I like that cotton twist makes a unique design for kitchen items. :) I love the little bottle cap tabs flowers, funny as I just started to collect them, since I don't drink sodas I am collecting them off veggie cans. :) I will have to make a few of those tab flowers but I think I will crochet them, yours are really cute..love the 4th napkin display...very creative...!!Debb
