Welcome Aboard For Pink Saturday!

Last weekend I looked out my window to find a neighbor across the street was having a yard sale. I have been to her sales before, so I knew I should get over there before all the goodies were gone! Well, I brought home some hand embroidered linens, a few necklaces, etc.. But my favorite find was this!...

It is sheet music for the song "On The Good Ship Lollipop", with Shirley Temple's sweet little face on the cover, encircled in pink! While it is not in perfect condition where you see the tape, the music printed on the pages is perfect, and the overall condition is just fine with me! It is dated in Roman numerals as MCMXXXIV, which is 1934, if I'm not mistaken. This is the same year that the child star first sang this song, in the movie "Bright Eyes".

I wasted no time slapping this into a frame, for both protection and display. Here is Shirley singing what came to be her trademark song...

I hope you enjoyed your visit here today! I had hoped to post my finished afghan today, but just couldn't quite finish it. I am still working on the edging. I hope you'll come by for next Saturday, when I will definitely have photos ready to show you! In the meantime, please do visit our Pink Saturday hostess, Beverly, at How Sweet The Sound. There you'll find a listing of all the Pink Ladies who are participating this week, and I hope you'll visit as many as you can! It's always fun to see what pink surprises everybody has come up! Happy Pink Saturday, and have a wonderful weekend!

What a great find! At a yard sale yesterday I bought two childrens magazines from the 1940s and 2 phonics books from the 1950s. They are cute, but your Shirley Temple is even better. Thanks for posting it.

A treasure to be sure. Happy PS

Oh, Tina, how ironic that you posted the picture of Shirley Temple today. You remember the downer week I've had? Well, my Mother's name was Shirley, born in 1934 and named after, none other than Shirely Temple. I'm much better today, after my week of reflection, and this wonderful little reminder was a very nice ending to a not-so-nice week. Thank you. - - Keri - -

Oh Beansie!
Happy Pink Saturday sweetie. What a wonderful find you found today. I so love Shirley Temple, I used to watch her every Sunday. I would have framed it too. Find you some lollipop ornaments at Christmas when they are out, and glue them to your frame. How fun would that be?

Thanks for sharing sweetie. Please stop by and let me share my pink post with you. I can't wait to show you what I did with that darn black boot. Country hugs, Sherry

Hiya Tina girl, thanks for stopping by today, and you should post about your childhood memories of Disney Sunday I think that sounds great. I just thought with all the darkness, and sickness going around that some families might enjoy seeing a little bit of magic and sunshine in their life. I can't wait to see what you do. Have a great week.

Heidi

The Shirley Temple movies are so cute! My daughter loves them and has all the ones we had. I can almost play the song from the picture you have there. Especially when I click on it to make it bigger. Only thing is I can't see the whole song. LOL! Hope you had a great Pink Saturday!

Oh YES....Isn't that adorable? I bought that exact sheet music at a summer antique store sale for my little (then) daughter...along with Fifty Chubby Tiny Toes...another bit of sheet music for the Dionne Quintuplets. It was that day that spurred her love for ANYTHING Dionne. She has a huge collection now...I grew up on Shirley and STILL love to watch that charming little gal sing and dance.

Have a wonderful week!

Blessings,
Spencer

Hello Beansie! :-)

I watched the video and she is sssssssoooooo adorable with that curly hair of hers. And yes, the music sheet is in good condition after all those ears. Good thing you got it.

Looking forward on the afghan. I've never attempted one. I like the different shades of pink you used.

Finally, I get to post the blue treats :-) Hope you like it :-)
